Season 4 Last of Heroes?

They've managed to fight off sadistic Sylar for four seasons, but have sagging ratings finally sealed Heroes' fate? Tuesday January 5 marked the last day of filming on Heroes' latest arc - and that may very well turn out to be the final day of filming ever.

"You never know," shrugs the show's Greg Grumberg (Matt Parkman), who worked that solemn day with Ali Larter (Tracy), Hayden Panettiere (Claire) and Jack Coleman (Noah). A wrap party is scheduled for cast and crew on Sunday January 10.

The show had planned to wrap before the holidays but required one additional day of filming. "We were off for some time, so it was so odd to come back for another day," he says.

Before the break, the cast openly acknowledged that it could quite possibly be their final time interacting with each other as their suped-up alter egos should NBC elect not to order an additional season of the struggling series that debuted to great fanfare in 2006. "You say your goodbyes and give gifts, because you really never know," shares the actor. "It was our nineteenth episode - the last of the season. And it was a strong episode, so we'll see."

But is episode 19, set to air February 8, strong enough to serve as the series swan song? "No!," declares Greg emphatically. "It would not serve as an appropriate series finale. To properly wrap up our show, which absolutely has to happen, we have to come back and do some more episodes. Without question."

Clearly, Greg's refusing to throw in the towel. Though he acknowledges that "the ratings have dipped," he points to the show's international success and DVD sales as a possible saving grace. "They make so much money on the show that they've got to finish it off," he says. "People want that and will demand it, which means we'll probably end up doing it."

So what would make for a fitting ending to the show? Greg cracks: "The only hero left standing would be Matt Parkman." Good luck Greg. I fear you're going to need it.

Fortunately, this is a guy who always lands on his feet. He confirmed some exciting news to me that has been the topic of much speculation among sci-fi fans. Greg will indeed be back in the February 2 season premiere of Lost as Seth Norris, the doomed captain of Oceanic flight 815 and the very first victim of the infamous smoke monster. "It's a very cool wrap up that makes me so invested in watching this last season," says Greg. His part, he concedes, is very small. "It's actually a voiceover thing I was able to do in L.A. People are going to like hearing me as the Captain."

Though he wants to keep his dialogue secret, it's safe to assume it will be something along the lines of: "Fasten your seat belts. It's going to be a bumpy ride."

Dawn Olivieri Talks about Season 4

DigitalSpy conducted an interview with Dawn Olivieri the tattoo girl named Lydia. Below tells us some information regarding the future of Heroes.

Warning! SPOILERS AHEAD!!

'Redemption' has has undoubtedly been all about the carnies. Forget Nathan's death, Mohinder's return, and that lesbian kiss: Robert Knepper and his carnival crew have been the ones to bring Heroes back from the brink of boredom this year. So, where does the season go from here? What is Samuel's masterplan? And which of our favourite Heroes will be crossing over to the dark side? Recently, Tube Talk got on the phone to Dawn Olivieri - aka Samuel's right-hand woman Lydia - to find out.

You've been on the show for a while now. How have you settled in?
"It's great. It's fantastic. This is my first TV series, so it's a bit of a different game, but it's a great opportunity. To be honest, it's just getting me ready for the next show I'm on, and the one after that. It's been a great experience."

Your character has quite an unusual power. Do you actually have the pictures drawn on your body?
"I'm currently walking around with them! They like to try to keep them on for as long as possible, because it costs around $2,000 each time they put one on me. It's expensive! Considering that in an episode I might have to put them on two or three times..."

Lydia's just discovered that Samuel's killed his brother. Will she use that against him?
"I know exactly what she does, but I think she's very cautious. She's observing a lot and now that she's seen what he's done, she can't deny it any more. You can't just sit by and let it happen. She's seen too much to leave it alone."

Why doesn't she want her daughter to join the carnival?
"She knows more than most. Ignorance is bliss sometimes and most of the carnies live in a cloud of happiness - like a cult - but she sees things a little differently. She sees her daughter as being a pure human being and she did it in the beginning to save her. And to have lost all of those years and have her come in exactly where she's ended up would be a loss."

What keeps Lydia with the carnival?
"She doesn't have anywhere else to go! Imagine going on a date with that power! If someone touches you, you find everything out - you find out exactly how they feel. It would make for a terrible first date for sure! It's gotta be hard to live in society with that power. It's almost like her own prison."

Will we find out more about her past in the second half of the season?
"Yes, for sure. We're getting to such a crucial point in the season now - we're shooting episode 17 - and a lot is happening. It's a huge turning point. It's such a big thing that I can't divulge any information. Anything I say will completely foreshadow what's to come."

Should fans be worried for Claire now that she's joined the carnival?
"Given Claire's power, I don't think she's ever in danger. She's the indestructible girl, so I wouldn't be worried about her. She may come up to some interesting hurdles that she has to go over..."

Is it likely that we'll see any of the other Heroes joining the carnival?
"Oh yeah! Now we're nearly at the end of the season, everyone's starting to meander their way over and it's getting out of hand. It's attracted a lot of attention and it becomes a priority for many of the heroes on the show."

What did you think about Adrian Pasdar's exit from the show?
"They always say that no one dies on Heroes, but Adrian may be done for good. I know for a fact that he was surprised with the release because it wasn't really told to him as one would like. But they always say that it doesn't matter when or how you die on Heroes - it's sci-fi and anything can happen. Everyone can come back! I think they're trying to change the show a bit - everyone gets hurt or semi-dies - and they wanted to shock fans as we get near the end of the season and this was one of the shocks. He was such a fantastic guy to work with and he was so much fun, but maybe it's his time to be on another show."

How do you think Heroes will be without Nathan in it?
"For me, personally, I thought [Adrian] was one of the best actors on the show. From the first season I watched it, I wasn't as intrigued with his character as I was with his acting. Whether he's on this show or another show, he's just a fun actor to watch. I don't know if that's who I would have chosen to kill, but they gotta make their choices."

Does season four end in a satisfying way? Or more of a cliffhanger?
"I would probably go cliffhanger, because that's how you do it these days, right? As for satisfying, I'm not sure. There's definitely gonna be a few surprises that we've been filming recently and it's gonna stir up some trouble. There'll be a lot of buzz, for sure."

There have been a lot of rumours that this may be the final season. Have the cast been assured that this isn't the case? Or have you been kept in the dark too?
"Everybody talks about it losing momentum and not being so great in the ratings, but honestly, this show makes so much money for NBC that I don't see it gong anywhere. It's had No.1 DVD sales every year it's been on - internationally - and I don't think it's going anywhere. I think it'll keep going."

Heroes returns to NBC Monday, January 11 in a new 9pm slot.

Adrian Pasdar's final bows

This time, Heroes' Nathan Petrelli is really most sincerely dead.

Nathan and the actor who plays him, Adrian Pasdar, will take their final bows Monday night (NBC, 8 ET/PT) in an emotional scene with the character's brother, Peter (Milo Ventimiglia).

The demise of Nathan, a central character, marks the most significant departure in Heroes' four-season run.

It has been a harrowing path for Nathan, a U.S. senator with the ability to fly. He was thought to have exploded at the end of Season 1 and appeared to die by an assassin's bullet in Season 2.

He recovered each time, "but some deaths really need to stick," Pasdar says. "I'm happy to have had the opportunity to have this long of a run."

Nathan actually has been dead for a while, killed by the evil Sylar (Zachary Quinto) at the end of last season. But an essence of the character survived in signature Heroes style: Mind-controlling Matt Parkman (Greg Grunberg) put Nathan's memories into Sylar's head, leading him to shape-shift into Nathan.

In recent episodes, Sylar's consciousness, which has remained in Matt's mind, has angled to get back his body.

"On a show where you put characters in life-and-death situations with real stakes, characters have had to die," creator Tim Kring says. Writers initially hoped to have Pasdar and some form of Nathan in all 19 episodes of Season 4 – aka "Volume 5: Redemption" – "but we were starting to run out of ways to keep that character around," he says.

Kring says it's a double loss. Pasdar is a "loved member of the cast," and the brothers' relationship has been central to the series. He called the brothers' final scene "heart-wrenching. ... Adrian has never been better, and Milo has never been better."

Whether the episode will give Heroes a ratings jolt remains to be seen. Once a hit, it has struggled to attract viewers in an earlier time slot this season (No. 62, averaging 6.8 million viewers, and No. 40 among 18- to 49-year-olds). But it's one of the better performers in time-shifted viewing, growing 25% or more when a whole week of TV watching is considered.

Kring is proud of the volume, saying "it's deeper in terms of character because it's moving a little less quickly." There's no word on a fifth season, but he says he's "fully expecting" it.

Pasdar, who would like to return to direct an episode (and there's always the chance he could return in flashback), says shows get kicked when ratings drop, but he thinks in retrospect people will realize how good Heroes is. He remembers a couple of things from his final episode. It was "a terrifically written scene," and he was hanging by a wire 40 feet off the ground.

"It's a goodbye, brotherly. 'You've got to let me go. You've got to carry on and fight the good fight for the both of us,' " he says. "It's simple and pure."

Is this the end of Heroes?

Producer Adam Armus discusses the future of Season 4 of Heroes. Will this be the end of Heroes? Will there be a Fifth Season? What do you think?

There's just one more episode before the explosive Heroes midseason finale, "The Fifth Stage." It's already been teased that one of the characters you know and love will die, and that the actor will be leaving the series for good. We're guessing the midseason finale, which is episode 12, is going to be the episode where all the fireworks happen. And then Heroes will return in January for its last run of original episodes of the season.

"Our plans are to end this year, whether it's the last year or not, in a world-changing way," Amus said. "Whether or not we continue the next year, it will lend to future inspiration for whoever thinks about these characters, whether they exist on other platforms or whether they exist on television or whether it doesn't exist at all any more. It will lend your imagination to 'Oh, my goodness, the world has changed now, and what does that mean?'

Amus added: "We don't have to be saved from an island. We don't understand what the future fast-forward means. We don't have a central question to answer. What we have are people who have to live their lives and accept their lives and have to move on with their lives. And whether we keep telling their stories or not, as far as I'm concerned, these people will continue to live on in people's imaginations, because they are people who live with abilities, and that's both a blessing and a curse in our world. Those are stories that can continue to be told."

Heroes airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

Adrian Pasdar to Leave Heroes?!

Executive producer Adam Armus danced around the subject during a recent interview. After he spilled the beans, he swore me to secrecy, and I promised not to reveal who was going to die until the cat was let out of the bag. Well, the cat clawed her way out of that bag, and it's now been reported in several outlets that Adrian Pasdar is the unlucky guy and that his character, Nathan Petrelli, will bite the dust before the year's end. E! Online's Kristin Dos Santos also reported that Pasdar learned about his character's exit not from a phone call, but from a script.

"We all know that Nathan Petrelli last year was killed, and his mind was put into Sylar's body and shape-shifted into Nathan," said Armus. "We made some commitments last year, and we've committed that there is going to be an epic battle between two characters and who's going to win and who's going to lose. That's something we've been planning all this year. So we know that someone has to lose."

"This whole Sylar-in-one-body-and-his-mind-in-another with Matt Parkman, all that's going to come to a head, because ultimately Sylar is going to win. He's ultimately going to get out of Matt Parkman's head and get back into his body," said Armus. Which would mean it's not looking good for Nathan. Somehow, even on a show called Heroes, Nathan's flying ability probably won't be a lot of help to him if he doesn't have a body.

"Once Nathan and Sylar come back together, there is a battle for the life of that body. Who is going to be in control? And whoever loses is the one that dies," said Armus. "It's the knock-down-drag-out 'Who's going to win this body?', and it's going to be between Peter and Nathan/Sylar. And Peter's going to be fighting for his brother." And obviously not winning.

Here's Adrian Pasdar's statement in his Youtube account.

I won't say anything. Yet. Other than that the last four years have been wonderful and ALL the folks that go into making HEROES have treated me professionally and with respect. I am still under contract to NBC/Universal, and will remain so until the end of season 4. On another note, I spent today with Masi Oka at Universal Studios, on the lot, and we had some fun behind the scenes at the Jaws attraction on the Tour... I'll post it in a bit. All I had was my iPhone, so the quality might not be as decent and you're used to... Stay Tuned!

Do you think we will still see Nathan Petrelli next season?

Another Heroes Season 4 Episode 13 Casting Call

Another casting call for Heroes. This time they will be needing actors that will portray as young Samuel and young Joseph. This news comes from SpoilerTV. These two actors will be a co-star in Episode 13 of Heroes.

For young Samuel : A 13 year old Caucasian with a slight Irish-American accent. A young boy with a flair for danger, suffers some teasing from his older brother.

For young Joseph : A 18 year old male Caucasian with Irish accent. Young man in charge of his little brother. Calming and good-natured.

So there will be a flashback on episode 13... Sounds interesting.

Mohinder and Sylar in Season 4

Here's the latest spoilers from Entertainment Weekly about Mohinder and Sylar in Heroes Season 4.

Question: Where has Mohinder gone from Heroes?! —Rachel

Ausiello: Sendhil Ramamurthy resurfaces in November, so you’ll get your explanation then. Not sure if this is a clue but my Heroes mole tells me that more than 50 percent of Ramamurthy’s scenes since returning have been with Masi Oka.

Question: I heard that Sylar is going to have a love interest this season on Heroes. Could it possibly be Claire? That would make some people happy. —Laurie

Ausiello: The show has 12 episodes in the can and, so far, there’s nothing to suggest that Sylar will take a lover. “We [only] have six more episodes left [to shoot],” reports Zachary Quinto.” I suppose anything’s possible, but I don’t think the seeds for that have been planted in my storyline yet.”

Heroes Season 4 Episode 13 Casting Call

Another casting call for Heroes. This time they will be needing 3 Japanese characters who will co-star in Heroes Season 4 Episode 13. No title yet for episode 13 but we'll be posting them here as soon as it becomes available. This news comes from SpoilerTV.

Here's the description of the character.

A male Ramen Vendor around 40 years old. He must be able to speak fluent Japanese. He's a grumpy, deadpan soup vendor in Tokyo which encounters a very confused Hero on his valiant mission.

A Japanese woman around 40 years old as well. She must be able to speak fluent Japanese. She will be accosted on the street by a teenage purse snatcher.

Lastly, a male Japanese cop. He must be able to speak fluent Japanese. He will be portraying a non sense police officer in Tokyo who will detain a local citizen for their outlandish and seemingly dangerous antics.

Based on this casting call, I think someone will be dialing Dial-A-Hero because their purse was stolen in a ramen shop.

What do you think?

Here's the description of the character.

A young female student from India. East Indian between 10 to 13 years old. She will be bright and inquisitive student who is very engaged with her lessons. She will Co-star in episode 10.

Perhaps this will be the start of Mohinder storyline this season or Hiro and Ando will travel again to India. What do you think?
